Ex-US general calls for NATO troops in Greenland To Defend Against Trump

Lifted in toto from BAHA Breaking News, January 10:

A former top US general called on Denmark and NATO allies on Saturday to swiftly deploy troops to Greenland, warning that talk without action is not enough. Ben Hodges previously commanded US forces in Afghanistan.

Hodges praised Denmark's past military contributions, particularly in Afghanistan, but stressed that current security challenges require concrete action. "[US President] Donald Trump talks again and again about Greenland's importance to U.S. security. Take him seriously and, together with a number of NATO countries, deploy soldiers to Greenland immediately, send aircraft there, and get ships operating around Greenland," Hodges stressed.

According to Hodges, such a move would also undercut repeated claims by Trump about Greenland's strategic importance for US defense. He urged Denmark to take those concerns seriously. "You should say openly that if the United States is so concerned about the security of Greenland and North America, then we will deploy forces immediately," he added.

After his victory in Afghanistan the General turned his strategic gaze westward and went on to public pronouncements on Ukraine:

CNN: "Expert says Ukraine must cross Putin's 'red line' to win"

and:

NATO is very fortunate that Andorra did not attack Europe while Hodges was there.

Okay, that was sarcasm. So was the victory in Afghanistan bit.

Seriously and without kidding around, he should probably be recalled to duty and court-martialed.
