And speaking of medieval, the "Defund the Police" folks forget that societies did without police for millennia.
It was a bit rough on the accused, no due process or other legal niceties though.
Sometimes I wish they still taught history in the schools but then I realize that people who know a bit of history have an advantage so it's all good.

Hundreds of people swept through the Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown Chicago early Monday, smashing windows, looting stores, confronting police and at one point exchanging gunfire with officers, authorities said.
