WITH MONSANTO IN A ROUGH PATCH, director William Parfet has made the largest insider stock purchase at the agricultural-products company in five years.
Parfet, a Monsanto director since 2000, bought $1 million in stock last Thursday. He acquired 10,300 shares at $99.94 each, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday. Including exercisable options, Parfet now holds approximately 296,000 shares, far less than 1% of Monsanto's outstanding stock.
