February’s rise in euro-zone consumer price inflation put it in line with the ECB’s 2% price stability ceiling for the first time since January 2013, but underlying price pressures remain subdued. The increase in headline harmonised CPI inflation, from 1.8% to 2.0%, was in line with the consensus forecast and left the rate at its highest in over four years. But the pick-up entirely reflected higher energy and food inflation while the core rate was unchanged at just 0.9%.And from ING:
