Norway's Atlantic Sapphire A/S Wants HALF the U.S. Salmon Market, Starting Witha A $350 Million Farm In Florida (ASA-ME:Oslo)

That's by the year 2031. The goal for 2026 is a more modest 100,000 tonnes.

Atlantic Sapphire building USD 350 million land-based salmon farm in Miami 
Atlantic Sapphire USA, a subsidiary of Norwegian farmed salmon firm Atlantic Sapphire A/S, will soon start construction on a massive land-based aquaculture facility in Miami, Florida, U.S.A.
Atlantic Sapphire CEO and Founder Johan Andreassen confirmed to SeafoodSource the company has acquired all approvals necessary to begin the first phase of the project, which will cost around USD 100 million (EUR 94 million). Andreassen said he expects the facility will be capable of producing around 10,000 metric tons of rought-weight salmon, or 22 million pounds annually, by the time the phase-one build-out is complete, expected by the end of 2019 or beginning of 2020.

“Behind that, we’ll launch phase two and three, and over the next six to seven years, we expect to grow up to 90,000 tons of salmon annually,” Andreassen said. “We have secured sufficient land to build it out completely.”

An under-construction salmon farm in Homestead just reeled in $210 million in refinancing.
Atlantic Sapphire secured the construction loan for the four-phased development at 22275 Southwest 272nd Street from DNB Bank, according to a spokesperson for Holland & Knight. Attorneys Alberto Hernandez and Elena Otero and associates Faisal Kraziem, Brittany Fox and Danielle Moore represented Atlantic Sapphire in the deal.

The refinancing breaks down to a $180 million term loan and a $30 million revolving credit facility, the spokesperson said.

The Miami Bluehouse facility will consist of a 390,000-square-foot climate-controlled main building where salmon will be hatched, raised and harvested. It’s expected to be one of the largest salmon farms in the world once it’s completed.

Atlantic Sapphire has a Bluehouse facility operating in Denmark that served as a pilot for the company, according to Atlantic Sapphire’s website....MORE
