It's World Statistics Day! Here's the EIA With An Energy Statistics Quiz!

In the words of boxer Michael Spinks, "Can you feel the ewectwicity?"
From the Energy Information Administration:
As the statistical and analytical agency within the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) is participating in World Statistics Day. Sponsored by the United Nations Statistical Commission, World Statistics Day promotes better understanding of statistics among the general public and policymakers worldwide.
This year's theme emphasizes the role of high-quality official statistical information in analysis and informed decision-making. EIA is committed to helping people understand energy and is committed to the dissemination of timely, relevant energy statistics.
The first World Statistics Day was celebrated in 2010 with more than 130 countries and areas participating. In 2012, the United Nations Statistical Commission decided to observe the celebration every five years on the same calendar date: October 20. In honor of World Statistics Day 2015, EIA created a 20-question energy quiz to highlight some key energy statistics.
In addition to our data and analysis products, EIA also provides several energy education products.

  • Energy Explained is an energy encyclopedia that provides more than 170 articles written in plain language that cover energy sources, uses, and markets
  • Energy Kids covers energy sources and uses and includes games and activities for students
  • Energy in Brief stories answer questions about energy in short, easy-to-read articles
  • FAQs answer 160 of the questions about energy that are often posed to EIA
More information about World Statistics Day is available at the United Nations' World Statistics Day site.
