Dictators and Autocrats
As war rages in Syria, the country’s President, Bashar al-Assad, is inviting the world to look on the sunny side of his despotic rule with a new Instagram account, syrianpresidency. Stopping just short of applying the Walden filter, the account has been posting photos of the dictator and his wife, Asma, surrounded by smiling and grateful citizens as they visit the sick and the elderly, and comfort crying children.
