From the market intelligence wizards at TrendForce, September 18:
Rising foundry costs could soon ripple through AMD’s product lineup. According to TechPowerUp, citing sources from ChannelGate, the chipmaker is reportedly preparing price increases as silicon costs rise.
With much of its silicon manufactured by TSMC, AMD is expected to pass some of the higher costs on to customers. TSMC has reportedly notified customers of foundry price increases of around 10%. ChannelGate notes that AMD has also notified multiple customers of increases of roughly 10%, with the adjustments expected to take effect in 4Q26. The reported hikes cover AI accelerator chips, consumer graphics processors, and motherboard chipsets.
Notably, CPUs are not explicitly mentioned in the reported adjustments. Wccftech notes that there is currently no confirmation of higher Ryzen pricing, although AMD’s reliance on TSMC for its client processors means CPUs could also face cost pressure if wafer prices rise.
Price increases for AMD’s motherboard chipsets have been less common than those for its CPUs and GPUs, TechPowerUp notes. Graphics card and motherboard manufacturers are reportedly assessing their own pricing in response, with product prices potentially rising alongside higher chip costs....
