From Abu Dhabi's The National, May 14:
Boeing secures $200bn jet order from Qatar Airways that Trump says is 'largest'
The deal timing is 'politically savvy' but it is still the same order that the state-owned airline would place without the 'political fanfare', analysts say
Qatar Airways has signed an agreement for 160 Boeing aircraft worth more than $200 billion, in a deal that US President Donald Trump said is the "largest" for the US aviation major.
The deal, part of wider aviation and defence agreements between the two countries, was signed by Qatar Airways chief executive Badr Al Meer and Boeing chief executive Kelly Ortberg during Mr Trump's visit to Doha on Wednesday.
The details of the order and delivery timelines were not disclosed.
"Kelly ... congratulations to Boeing. Get those planes out there. Get them out there," Mr Trump said....
....MUCH MORE
Aviation sites are saying the order will end up being for 150-160 planes and would impact up to 100,000 jobs either created or retained at Boeing and its suppliers.
With or without the 'political fanfare' that's quite a bit of money.
The National is doing total team coverage of President Trump's visit so I'd have to agree there is a bit of hoopla:
