Volcano Alerts: Both Pinatubo and Mt Semeru Have Gone Off In The Last Few Days (Semeru looks terrifying)

Although Pinatubo threw ash up to 44,000 feet on November 30, which is getting close to the height you start monitoring for sulfate cooling effects (the 1991 eruption cooled the earth by 0.6°C [1°F] over the next fifteen months) today's eruption in Indonesia is definitely the Yikes! moment:
