Elite Meet and Greet (and Eat): Welcome to Davos Live 2009

Last year's Wall Street Journal Davos crew was funny and on top of the action, I see one name I recognize in the intro below. From the WSJ:

Welcome to Davos Live, WSJ.com’s home for real-time news, analysis and discussion during the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Switzerland.

The official website brands the theme of this year as “Shaping the Post-Crisis World”, with a focus on “managing the current crisis and shaping the entire post-crisis agenda, from economic reform to climate change.” You can see our preview of this year’s agenda here.

But it is inevitable that attention may be on matters more immediate. As Marc Champion reports today, world leaders will be gathering at a time when “the outlook hasn’t been bleaker or global capitalism more racked with self-doubt”. He adds:

“Forty heads of state — compared with 27 last year — have signed up to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum that begins Tuesday evening with two questions dominating: Just how bad will this global recession get? And what will provide the growth needed to end it?”

Whatever the questions, if they find any answers in Davos you will read about them here first. A team of Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones newswires reporters will be roaming the halls this week and, as the name of our site suggests, posting their reports here as events unfold....

Here's the Davos Live homepage.
