September 13, 2023: After ten weeks of limited supply and strong demand, the rebound of the global polysilicon price average has come to a halt. The minimal increase this week is exclusively due to exchange rate fluctuations. During the last ten weeks, the polysilicon price gained 21% from $8.60/kg to $10.40/kg. Now, however, falling solar cell prices curb the willingness to accept still higher polysilicon prices. EnergyTrend’s index for dense mono-grade polysilicon in China has remained flat at CNY81/kg (including 13% value added tax, equivalent to US$9.85/kg without VAT). The polysilicon price outside China has declined marginally from US$21.00/kg last week to US$20.98/kg.
