Markets Live special: Tesla's Q2 earnings
When we announced a special Markets Live for Tesla's earnings release last quarter, we didn't quite anticipate what the conference call would entail. In an error of judgement, we logged off before Mr Musk took the microphone and proceeded to, well, deliver a question and answer session which ranks among Wall Street's greatest....MUCH MORE
This time, we won't be repeating the same mistake. Even if it does mean a late bedtime for Alphaville's UK bureau.
So join us at 9.30pm British Summer Time, 4.30pm Eastern or 1.30pm Pacific, to discuss Tesla's results and ensuing conference call, after a whirlwind three months of sabotage, submarines and lawsuits.
To help prepare, here's three things we'll have our eye on in the course of the evening:
1. Model 3 average selling price
After Tesla scraped past its 5,000 per week production target for the Model 3 at the end of June, deliveries of the much-hyped mass-market electric car are underway across North America. Production and delivery figures will no doubt grab the headlines but the amount being paid per car is arguably as crucial.....
Having posted on Tesla since before the IPO we too have some hard won (and ocassionally expensive) insight.
What we're looking for, in a nutshell:
- The numbers will be horrible.
- It shouldn't matter to the stock, If...
As has been said about the Democratic Party going into the 2018 elections:
All they have to do is not go crazy.If Mr. Musk can stick to the script, answer the questions in a forthright manner, maybe announce some big things with China all should be well for the longs.
If not, we'll probably be breaking in to the Alphaville coverage with something along the lines of:
