"CEOs of Shell, Siemens, EDF and Vattenfall 'to sit on board leading EU's clean hydrogen build-out'"

As has been said many times: "If you don't have a seat at the table you are probably on the menu".
(or a personal favorite: "If you don't have a seat at the table, grab a folding chair and force your way in")

I'm not sure why there is still hubbub about "Leaked documents", EURACTIV had them on June 17th and they are not exactly Ali Watkins and her Intelligence Committee security head paramour.

From ReCharge:
Leaked document about the new European Clean Hydrogen Alliance shows that fossil-fuel hydrogen is likely to play a major role in the EU's forthcoming H2 strategy
The chief executives of Shell, Siemens, EDF and Vattenfall will sit on the governing board of the new European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECHA) — the governmental/industry body that will spearhead the industrialisation of low-carbon hydrogen in the EU — according to a leaked European Commission document.

The ECHA is due to be unveiled on Wednesday by the commission, alongside the launch of the EU Hydrogen Strategy, which will set out how the bloc plans to expand the production and use of clean hydrogen to help meet its 2050 net zero emissions target.

The inclusion of Shell CEO Ben van Beurden shows that blue hydrogen — derived from natural gas with carbon capture and storage — is likely to play a fundamental role in the European hydrogen strategy, although the fossil-fuel giant is also working on green hydrogen projects based around offshore wind farms.
The news did not go down well with environmental campaigners.

“The Commission has fallen for the fossil fuel industry’s hydrogen hype," said Tara Connolly, energy campaigner at Friends of the Earth Europe. “By leaving the door wide open to fossil hydrogen and gifting industry influence through a new Alliance, hydrogen risks handing a new lifeline to the failing fossil-fuel industry.”

Germany, which revealed its own €9bn ($10.2bn) national hydrogen strategy in June, took a similar line, offering zero financial support for blue hydrogen and focusing purely on green H2 derived from renewables-powered water electrolysis....
