ICYMI: Japan's James Bond Volcano Exploded This Week

The experts don't use the word explosion all that often but they did for this eruption.

Japan's 'James Bond' Volcano Erupts In A Spectacular Display Of Fire And Smoke
The infamous volcano Mount Shinmoedake, which played a prominent role in a 1960s James Bond movie, erupted on Tuesday. The volcano sent ash and smoke thousands of meters into the sky, canceling flights and creating unease for local residents.

Shinmoedake volcano appeared in the 1967 James Bond movie You Only Live Twice, with Sean Connery as the film's agent 007. The volcano was home to the villain's (Ernst Stavro Blofeld) secret lair, located within the volcano itself.

The Shinmoedake volcano began to exhibit activity on March 1st of 2018, prompting the volcano entrance to be closed and increased monitoring. Just a few days after, on March 6th, the volcano began to shoot ash and smoke thousands of meters into Japan's sky as it began erupting lava....MORE
