That’s what Audi wants to do with its new “dealership in a briefcase,” an immersive virtual experience using the jaw-dropping power of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
The VR-powered experience gives potential buyers an immersive look at every aspect of a new Audi: interior, exterior, even a look inside the trunk. A sophisticated head-tracking setup monitors the wearer’s movements, morphing the virtual video tour to show exactly what you’d see if you were peering at a real-life Audi. The whole experience is 3D, with Bang & Olufsen headphones synthesizing the sounds of doors slamming shut and mimicking the stereo system of the cars being browsed.
