French clean energy firm EDF Energies Nouvelles's US subsidiary, enXco, has signed an agreement with MidAmerican Energy to build the Walnut wind farm in Iowa. This 100.5MW project is due to be completed in late 2008....

Regulators approve rate of return for MidAmerican project
MidAmerican Energy Co. will be allowed an 11.7 percent rate of return on its investment for a proposed wind project.
An Iowa Utilities Board ruling released Monday says the company can recover its costs over 20 years.
The board's ruling also sets a cost cap for project. But, it kept that amount confidential to avoid increasing the project costs as MidAmerican negotiates with developers....MORE

...MidAmerican to add 73 turbines by end of year
MidAmerican Energy of Des Moines said it would bring 73 more turbines into service by the end of this year after the Iowa Utilities Board approved an 11.7 percent rate of return.
Sixty-seven units will be placed near Walnut in Pottawattamie County and the rest in the existing Pomeroy Wind Project in Pocahontas County.
The new turbines will bring MidAmerican's total turbine count to 800, giving the utility 1,231.8 megawatts of generation capacity by the end of the year.
