The last time we visited AMSC was "In the wind-power biz, beware giving some stocks a whirl (ZOLT, AMSC)". In self defense the title was from the LA Times' Money & Co. blog and it turns out he was dead wrong. We probably won't be linking to them very much.

Shares of American Superconductor (AMSC), which makes cabling and other high-temperature superconductor-based parts used in wind power installations, is up $7, or 19.6%, at $43.17, today after announcing a $450 million deal to supply China’s Sinovel Wind Corp. wind turbine company.In a note to clients, Needham & Co. analyst James Ricchiuti writes that the deal adds to AmSuper’s “already formidable” backlog of $200 million in orders as of the end of March.
