Ukraine FM: Oreshnik strike a 'global threat'
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Friday that Russia's reported use of an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) known as Oreshnik against Ukraine's Lviv region poses "a global threat," adding that the launch near the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) "demands global responses."
In a post on X, Sybiha wrote that Kiev is informing the United States, European partners, and international organizations "through diplomatic channels" and will seek "international action," including an "an urgent meeting of the [United Nations] UN Security Council, a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, as well as responses within the EU, Council of Europe, and [Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe] OSCE." He dismissed Moscow's justification for the strike, calling Russian claims of an attack on President Vladimir Putin's residence false.
Russia earlier confirmed it used the Oreshnik missile system in a large-scale strike on Ukraine, with the Russian Defense Ministry saying the attack targeted critical infrastructure.
One of the reasons Russia chose to lob the speedy bomb at Lviv is it is pretty darn close to NATO member Poland:
The other reason to target Lviv is it is the home of the Ukro-Nazis, has been since the '40's and more so since Russia captured the Eastern franchise in Mariupol.
In July 1941 the Ukrainians started their Jew-killing in Lviv before the invading German Nazis had even set up camp.
