Covid-19: New York Deaths Have Passed France and Spain, Still 12% Below Italy's Death Toll

I've been asked why I refer to the situation in New York as a disaster.
I do so because it is a disaster.
Deaths
New York    26,771
Spain         26,621
France       26,380
Italy           30,560

New York's death toll has surpassed, if that is the word, that of every country on earth save Italy and the U.S.
The U.S. is the third most populous nation on the planet.
Ex-New York the U.S. death rate per million is 173, between Montserrat (200) and Luxembourg (161), above Canada's death rate of 129 per million of  and below Switzerland's 211.

Ex-New York the U.S. rate is 17th highest in the world, including New York the rate is 13th highest.
