Bali: Businesses say no to techno transfer

Responding to the urgency for diffusions of knowledge in combating climate change, two very prominent business associations said Monday that cooperation would be the ideal approach instead of technology transfer.

“The reason I express concerns about the transfer of technology being discussed in the governmental context is that governments can basically transfer nothing,” World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBSCD) president Bjorn Stigson told reporters in Nusa Dua, Bali.

The technology, Stigson said, is owned by the private sector and therefore the government could not transfer it.

“The idea that the rich countries should buy technology and give it to developing countries is completely unrealistic,” he added....MORE

I haven't seen much comment from the chameleon green Venture Capital community on the idea of giving technology to developing nations. I'll see what's out there
