At least 589 people have been confirmed dead in Venezuela after two devastating earthquakes struck overnight on Wednesday.
The US military arrived on Thursday to assist with coordinating aid efforts in the country, the military said.
US southern command said it was supporting relief operations on Friday, adding that the interim government of Venezuela had formally requested American support. The military is to provide specialised equipment and assist with search and rescue efforts.Acting president Delcy Rodriguez said on Friday that at least 2,980 people were injured in the double earthquake, while nearly 50,000 are missing....
