How to keep the Hamas wing of the party inside the tent? Both of the other two front runners for the Veep slot have strong Jewish connections, Gov. Shapiro being very observant himself and Senator Kelly being married to a Jewish woman, Gabbie Giffords, along with being vocally pro-Israel.
The Michigan reference was to the very large Muslim community in that state, something that is also true of the new Vice-Presidential candidate's home state, Minnesota. If enough voters in Hamtramck and Dearborn decided to stay home the Democrats would lose Michigan. Ditto for Minnesota if enough of Illhan Omar's voters in Minneapolis stayed home.

For what it's worth, former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder is in charge of vetting the potential Veep candidates while his former boss has not endorsed Harris and instead has called for an open convention.
