"Iran to launch agricultural cultivation in Uruguay"

We don't know if Iran is intent on getting a foothold in the western hemisphere or just pulling Uncle Sam's beard but it seems their stated reason, rice supply, could have been solved a lot closer to Tehran.

On the other hand, if this move, combined with their upcoming naval forays into the Atlantic, indicate ill-intent, someone should remind them that the Americans are very slow to anger but when aroused and given free rein they are lunatics.
The Anglosphere seems to go with mass death by fire.

Just off the top of my head some of the back-in-the-day examples:
The British and American firebombings of Hamburg and Dresden probably killed over 100,000—no one know for sure, some say 500,000; the widespread use of flamethrowers in the Pacific islands, the firebombing of Tokyo with the largest loss of life from any one event in martial history—100,000 - 200,000 dead the night of March 9-10, 1945, more than the combined (immediate) death toll of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; the use of napalm in Vietnam and some others I'm sure I'm missing.

On the other hand, since the U.S. Department of War became the Department of Defense in September 1947 the U.S. hasn't 'won' a war and maybe that's what the Iranians are counting on.

Anyway....on to farming in Uruguay. Via Farmlandgrab:

Iran to launch agricultural cultivation in Uruguay
Deputy Iranian agriculture minister, while pointing to imports of rice from Uruguay, said Iran had made an overseas farming plan for cultivating rice in the South American country.
Houman Fathi, General Manager of International Affairs of Iran`s Agriculture Ministry, said economic relations with Uruguay were far from satisfactory and emphasized the need for a balance in trade between the two countries.
Iran`s exports to Uruguay are not significant in terms of volume and economic value, expressed the official stating that the Islamic Republic has a lot of export abilities in all sectors, especially in agriculture and conversion or complementary industries.
Fathi described diplomatic relations between Iran and Uruguay as positive and emphasized the necessity of expanding economic and trade relations between the two sides.
He stated that the Ministry of Agriculture was in charge of the Joint Economic Commission between Iran and Uruguay adding excellent targets have been defined for deepening and developing bilateral trade relations through 9 agreements and memoranda on various issues like quarantine of animals and plants, as well as investment and banking ties.
Stressing that the Iranian Ministry was after overseas cultivation in Uruguay, he said despite its low population, the South American country enjoys great agricultural potential.
Uruguay is one of the world`s largest rice producers and Iran remains as one importer of the product from the country in the South America....MORE
Back to the fire thing, I just remembered that Churchill considered nuking Berlin in retaliation for the V-2 attacks. And the Americans had something about firebombing Berlin as well but the details escape me.
