Big if true. The U.S. has had problems getting up to speed, so to speak, on the hypersonic thing and the powers-that-be get very a very serious look on their faces when it is explained to them that Mach 9 is 111 miles per minute and Washington D.C. is 100 miles from the coast.
Meaning a container ship with an extra-special container, or a submarine could fire and be on its way literally before the White House or the Pentagon knew what hit them.
