Russian Military Exercises In Transnistria

Russian troops in so-called Transnistria conduct unauthorised exercises 

Shots were heard in Transnistria, a non-recognised state that is officially considered a part of Moldova, on 22 December; it turned out that soldiers from the Russian forces stationed there were the ones shooting.

Details: The shots were heard near the villages of Gîsca and Corjova on the left bank of the Dnister as part of unauthorised exercises. Sergiu Golovaci, Head of the Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC), confirmed to Zona de Securitate that the shooting had lasted about 40 minutes....

Maia Sandu, Moldova's pro-EU president, will seek second term
In a post on Facebook, Sandu said she would run in the 2024 election.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Sunday, December 24, said she would seek a second term next year as she looks to steer the country to EU membership. "We still have important steps to take and I promise to continue if you give me your confidence for a new term in 2024," she said in a post on Facebook.

She also asked parliament to "initiate the organization of a referendum [on EU membership] next autumn, in which the voice of the citizens would be decisive."....
