Summer of '24 On The U.S. East Coast: Giant (4-inch legs) Venomous Spiders Parasailing Through the Air

Some of the headlines as they move north:

February 19: "Giant, invasive Joro spiders with 6-foot webs could be poised to take over US cities, scientists warn"

June 5: 4 things to know about the Jorō spider, which could reappear in Maryland this summer

A bit further north: "Giant venomous flying spiders will not parachute into New Jersey this summer"

But wait, the science is not settled: "Flying venomous spiders the size of a hand are set to invade New York"

Either way, it looks like they are going to get to Jersey: "Giant 'Parachuting' Spiders Are Spreading Fast and Can't Be Stopped"

Perhaps visiting Goldman Sachs' Jersey City outpost, across the Hudson from the mother ship: "Invasive Jorō spider is surprisingly tolerant of busy urban settings, according to new study"

Fun facts:

This spider web is strong enough for a bird to sit on, a scientific first
