Risk: Massive Earthquake Could Hit Istanbul at any Moment with just SECONDS Warning, Say Scientists

In addition to dispensing wise counsel and providing a target for the misguided jocularity of misguided youth one of my chores is thinking about risk.
Here's one that's new to me, from the Daily Mail, May 17:
  • Epicentre on the North Anatolian Fault Zone could be below Istanbul
  • The city is home to more than 15 million people and thousands of tourists
  • Marmara section has not had a bad earthquake since 1766 and is due to rupture
  • A new reports suggest the city they might only know seconds in advance
  • UN estimates 7.5 magnitude earthquake would kill 70,000 - 90,000 people
An earthquake of magnitude 7 or greater is due to hit Istanbul, scientists have warned.
The epicentre of an earthquake on the North Anatolian Fault Zone could be below the gates of the city, current forecasts warned.

This could prove devastating for the Turkish city which has more than 15 million inhabitants and thousands of tourists.

Scientists have warned that the city may only have seconds warning to prepare for the tremors....
